Yayeri Nanozi (Mukibbi)

Early Life and Family Background

Yayeri Nanozi (Mukiibi) was born in 1916 to Mantene Luther Nsibirwa and Damali Mukubwa Nawaggi. She was the third-born daughter of Damali.

Marriage and Family Life

She was married to Mw’ Mukiibi, who was educated at King’s College Budo. Together, they built their life as a devoted Christian family.

Residence and Livelihood

The couple lived for a time in Ntinda, where they purchased a home. They later sold the property and relocated permanently to Masajja. By profession, Yayeri was a tailor, a skill through which she supported her household.

Faith and Christian Devotion

Yayeri was a deeply devout Christian and a committed Mulokole (born-again believer), known for her strong prayer life and steadfast faith. Among the hymns she especially loved was “Tukutenderea Yesu,” which reflected her devotion and joy in worship.

Children and Legacy

Together, Yayeri and her husband had one child, Semakula Mukiibi, who, like his father, was educated at King’s College Budo. Semakula later travelled to the United Kingdom, where he lived for a few years before moving to the United States of America.

Her only child, Charles Drake Kasindula Semakula, who had been estranged from his mother and the family for decades, passed away one year before his mother on 18th November 2001 in Washington State, USA. He was later buried at Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery, Lakewood, Pierce County, Washington.

Death and Burial

Yayeri Nanozi (Mukiibi) passed away on 7th November 2002 at the age of 87 years. Both Yayeri Nanozi and her husband Mukiibi were known as devoted Balokole (born-again Christians). In keeping with their faith, both were laid to rest at the Church of Uganda in Masajja, a place closely associated with their faith and later life.
